To bring high quality image and object scanning within the reach of even the most cost-conscious consumer, HP is to make new members of its Scanjet family of digital flatbed scanners available across Africa soon.
The launch is just part of HP`s highly-publicised drive to introduce a host of printing and imaging solutions into the local market by next year. And it represents a giant leap forward in terms of the scanning technology used by local consumers.
"The market for digital imaging is really gaining momentum throughout Africa. As a result, our vision is to design and produce a scanner for every need, every budget and every project. The products launched today represent that vision," says Lorna Hardie, the business development manager for HP`s Imaging and Printing Group in English-speaking Africa.
The new scanners range from the entry-level HP Scanjet 2300c to the mid-range 3570c model. All feature simple and expedient scanning tools and they all give users what`s needed to capture, save, edit and share business or personal images.
"The 3570c offers first-time consumers the ultimate in quality scanning results for photos, slides and negatives ... the built-in adapter also allows them to scan 35mm negatives and slides and enhance them using the accompanying HP Photo & Imaging software," explains Hardie.
Featuring four, convenient, one-touch buttons (scan, copy, e-mail and HP `memories disc creator`), the device can also scan text, graphics and 3D objects; it can then print, e-mail or post them on the Web. The new HP memories disc creator enables customers to quickly and simply create their own multimedia slideshow with music.
The HP Scanjet 3500c delivers photo-quality results for a wide range of creative projects. This slim, 1200dpi and 48-bit colour scanner produces crisp and vibrant scans for printing, e-mailing and posting images on the Web. Three, one-touch buttons (scan, copy and e-mail) simplify operations still further.
The easily installed entry-level HP Scanjet 2300c features two one-touch buttons enabling home users to scan and copy photos, documents and even 3D objects such as books and jewellery.
"These scanners will all be available through our network of authorised resellers through Africa by the end of the month," notes Hardie. "We also remind customers to purchase only through HP-authorised partners ... they are the only companies that can offer the support and up-to-date products and information that the market has come to expect from the HP brand."
