HP has introduced three Converged Systems offerings - the HP ConvergedSystem 300 for Virtualization, the HP ConvergedSystem 700 for Virtualization, and the HP ConvergedSystem 100 for Hosted Desktops.
At HP Discover, in Barcelona, Tom Joyce, SVP and GM of HP Converged Systems, said the new offerings allow clients to quicken the time taken to realise business value from their virtualisation deployments, with all-in-one, integrated systems that are simple to install and use.
"With HP ConvergedSystem for Virtualization, customers can complete purchase orders in one day, deploy in 20 days, and add capacity as they grow in five days," said Joyce.
He believes this will increase operational efficiency, while lowering costs. The HP ConvergedSystem 300 delivers twice the performance, at a 25% lower entry price than competitors' products, and the HP ConvergedSystem 700 enables clients to achieve three times the IT efficiency, at up to 28% lower total cost of ownership.
Designed for businesses that need to implement between 50 and 300 virtual machines in a simple and cost-effective manner, the HP ConvergedSystem 300 has been built on standards-based infrastructure blocks, he explained. "The system starts at a low entry price, opening converged systems up to medium-sized businesses or enterprises with smaller virtualisation needs, with room for growth as and when needed."
Aimed at enterprises with massive data centres that need 100 to 1 000 virtual machines, the HP ConvergedSystem 700 helps customers control capital and operational expenditures associated with virtualisation, while ensuring performance and availability at massive scale.
The HP ConvergedSystem 100 for Hosted Desktops, which Joyce calls the "first hosted desktop system tailor-made for knowledge workers", allows customers to boost staff productivity with a system designed to deliver a consistent, high-quality PC experience for remote and mobile knowledge workers.
"The system provides dedicated 'PC on a chip' resources to support workers who need the power of a full desktop, and offers the business graphics and multimedia performance of a traditional desktop PC with six times faster graphics frames per second compared to other virtual desktop infrastructure solutions," said Joyce.
