HP, SOE unveil in-game printing
HP has unveiled a print-on-demand service for massively multiplayer online (MMO) gamers, states Sony Insider.
The HP print-on-demand technology will allow players to view, create and purchase custom prints of classic characters, imagery and scenes from SOE's various fantasy worlds, games and artists.
The service, which will be accessed directly from the online games, is scheduled to be introduced later this year in EverQuest, EverQuest II and Free Realms.
AmazingMail delivers Web-to-print services
Smartphone developers wanting to take advantage of on-demand digital printing as part of their applications need look no further than AmazingMail.com's online Web-to-print service, says Marketwire.
Developers can integrate with AmazingMail's on-demand printing services to send personalised direct mail directly from hand-held devices, including the ability to spontaneously send postcards composed from "in-the-moment" smartphone photos.
Two iPhone developers have already taken advantage of Phoenix, Arizona-based AmazingMail's Web-to-print capabilities.
Lexmark unveils printer
Lexmark has introduced the X4975ve which is part of Lexmark's Professional range of multifunction printer and scanners, reports Computing.co.uk.
It looks clean and functional, with a silver case edge wrapping round the largely black body.
There is a near-horizontal 'automatic document feeder' set on top, which makes scanning documents for optical character recognition much easier than using the standard glass flatbed scanner.
