HP Spectre XT brings business and pleasure together in a single device

Johannesburg, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that the notebook market is more competitive than ever, with vendors big and small racing to deliver compelling industrial designs that at the same time embody what Microsoft is trying to achieve with its move to the much-vaunted Windows 8 operating system.

"But," says Sophia Evans, HP PSG business unit manager at Tarsus Technologies, "there's still room for other forms of innovation.

"The perfect example of this," she says, "is the upcoming HP Spectre XT notebook, which pitches what looks and feels like an exciting consumer-focused notebook into the enterprise space."

Evans says many vendors are talking about the trend toward bring your own device (BYOD), but too few are taking it seriously.

"The Spectre XT offers cutting-edge technology such as the next-generation Intel Core architecture, speedy solid-state storage, a sleek and attractive brushed aluminium exterior, and a professional-grade operating system designed expressly for business users," she says.

"We're predicting the business market will be going wild for it," she continues, "because IT departments are able to present users with an attractive, consumer-type product, and in doing so, alleviate the desire for employees to bring their own hardware to the office (and deal with the mammoth task of managing a massive fleet of disparate hardware).

"It's a win on both fronts, and that's rare in the current market's climate.

"We can't wait to see what the response to this product will be like when it ships later this month," she concludes.
