HP SA has unveiled the HP Officejet Pro X Series targeting small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
According to Thibault Dousson, GM for HP SA's Printing & Personal Systems (PPS) business unit, SMEs can save time and money with the next generation of inkjet printing. HP Officejet Pro X desktop printers produce colour documents at up to twice the speed and half the cost per page of laser printers, says Dousson.
"The printers feature a stationary print head that spans the entire width of the paper, enabling single-pass printing at high speeds with ink that dries in 20 seconds. The company's next-generation inkjet platform, the HP Officejet Pro X series, can deliver documents at up to 70 pages per minute in black or colour," he says.
HP claims its print technology produces thousands of ink drops with uniform drop weight, speed and trajectory, generating consistently precise images and text.
The printer series, which comprises HP Officejet Pro X476/X576 MFPs and HP Officejet Pro X451/X551 dw, uses up to 50% less energy. Further, its HP 970 and 971 ink cartridges create up to 50% less supplies waste than laser, without compromising quality, the company says.
The power usage drops while in ready and in sleep mode, which helps save resources and money without affecting performance, says Dousson.
"This generation of inkjet printers, designed specifically for businesses, enables time-pressured people to succeed in a competitive economic environment," says Merce Barcons, VP Inkjet Hardware Category, EMEA printing systems, HP.
"The Officejet Pro X series produces high-quality documents at the fastest ever speed and with lower costs. With less energy use, these printers can also help business owners reduce overheads and cut waste."
According to Kevin Van Wyk, inkjet category manager at HP PPS SA, original HP inks are made of specially formulated pigments that deliver highly saturated colours that resist smearing, water spills and highlighter smudges.
Van Wyk says the printing series is not built for big businesses but is more suited to SMEs, with printing volumes of between 1 000 and 5 000. The series is also completely mobile.
The 4.3-inch colour touch-screen enables users to print documents or photos directly from their thumb drives and to scan photos directly to drives with HP Office Pro XMFPs. The devices can print from anywhere using a smartphone or a tablet with HP ePrint.
HP's Officejet Pro X has been awarded the Blue Angel eco-label certificate, recognised throughout Europe as proof of a product's environmental credentials, says HP.
