HR budgeting template gives Excel users the edge

Johannesburg, 31 Aug 2012

Synergy BI's increasingly popular Excel Supercharged initiative, aimed at unleashing the power of Excel to those in the financial arena, has added a new feature-rich, ready-to-use HR budgeting template to its box of useful tools.

"Excel Supercharged was designed to give users of the stalwart program tools and tips to take it to the next level and beyond, and that is exactly what we trust we are doing with new releases such as the HR budgeting template," said Synergy BI's MD, Chirsto Bredenkamp.

Bredenkamp said the template helps users move away from budgeting for HR at a ledger level, thus enabling them to look at their business through the lens of individuals, rather than consolidated numbers per business unit.

"The user is able to insert a basic salary and consistently have associated package items populated automatically," he said, adding that the template further empowers users to look at the impact of turning on or off a benefit, for an individual, a group of individuals or for an entire business.

"In reporting, the user is in a position to see a summarised view for an employee, at a total cost to company level, including the detailed items that make up that value."

The template, as well as a video tutorial for setting it up, is available free of charge to subscribers to the Excel Supercharged journey.

"Synergy BI is aiming at becoming well known as a business that is committed to the office of finance, which is why we are sharing our skills with this sector. We want to be a trusted voice and a valuable partner to financial managers, directors and accountants," Bredenkamp said.

"The Excel Supercharged initiative is an integral part of our overall strategy to help companies become more profitable, by making available to them information they need to run their businesses well."

Excel Supercharged is aimed at the likes of financial managers, directors and controllers, who can sign up for it, at no cost, on www.synergy.co.za.

Synergy BI, comprising 85 people, with offices in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, is increasingly looked to by companies to assist them with the formulation and execution of a comprehensive information delivery strategy.
