HR solutions prove business worth

Human resource development is arguably the most critical force of change within corporate SA today, opines James McKerrell, chief executive of CRS Technologies SA.

According to McKerrell, the modern human resource (HR) development solution is designed to enhance information share and management within organisations. It is this ability that will differentiate growing businesses within the marketplace, he argues.

McKerrell is of the view that access to information is crucial in all HR environments. “Progressive HR solutions should allow managers and employees access to relevant information, and the ability to work with this information, thus reducing manual, paper-based administration,” he explains. “Analysis of HR information should be flexible, instant, and allow for the use of a variety of fields.

“With HR becoming a major influence behind all successful, growing businesses, the need for a system to be the driving force has become more evident,” argues McKerrell. “Human resource modules should cater for the recording and managing of all HR-related information. Each module shares the data in the base module to complete the integrated HR management cycle,” he explains.

“Consultancy is becoming entrenched within the domestic HR market,” says McKerrell. “As with any services-oriented space, especially one that demonstrates consistent growth and vast opportunity, the HR arena is very attractive for service providers.”

Any credible consultancy should involve a range of services that are grouped to provide a holistic and effective platform to meet all HR-related requirements, says McKerrell. These services include job evaluation, salary and pay structures, benchmarking HR policies to current changes in the market, staff training, and on automatic HR processes, he notes.

“Businesses need to exercise caution in which service providers they with to support processes and procedures, to offer and support technology investment and application,” he advises.

“Human resources has evolved and now become a value-add to many departments in many large organisations,” argues McKerrell. “The use of a successful HR solution should enhance the visibility of HR in a business, and provide managers and employees with easy access to valuable information, flexible and powerful reporting, and a reduction in administration.”
