HTC has appointed Ingram Micro Mobility as its official fulfilment and customer support partner in SA.
The move comes after Ingram Micro acquired Brightpoint last year and the company rebranded as Ingram Micro Mobility.
In a statement released today, HTC says Ingram Micro is the world's largest wholesale technology distributor and a global leader in IT supply-chain, mobile device lifecycle services and logistics solutions.
It has sales offices and/or representatives in 37 countries, 119 distribution centres worldwide and represents more than 1 700 vendors.
Phil Blair, HTC president for Europe, Middle East and Africa, is quoted in the statement as saying Ingram Micro is a strategic partner for HTC globally and, with its strong presence in SA, it made sense to partner with Ingram to support HTC in the local market.
"HTC continues to focus on the HTC One, which has won a myriad of local and international awards," says Blair. "However, we're also excited to announce that the HTC One mini will be launched in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2013, bringing the acclaimed features of the One to more people than ever before in a more compact handset."
Bradley Lapin, Ingram Micro Southern Africa MD, says Ingram is excited about supporting the HTC brand given the strong position the HTC One has globally.
"The HTC One has received incredibly strong reviews both locally and internationally, and we're looking forward to assisting HTC with the loyal support base HTC phones have in South Africa with the HTC One range."
