Huawei has signed an agreement with SAP to establish SAP AG, becoming its first Chinese global technology partner. SAP AG will be a global supplier of enterprise application software and solutions.
"We are excited to establish a Global Technology Partnership with SAP. As a leading global ICT solutions provider, we have a decade of experience in ICT technologies," said Zheng Yelai, president of IT Product Line at Huawei.
The partnership will see SAP and Huawei deepening their technical integration and support, while building an interoperability competency centre and carrying out joint sales and marketing activities worldwide.
For customers, the collaboration will speed up app development and reduce ownership, implementation and operation costs. It will also help customers enhance the competitive strength and performance of their businesses. The collaboration will see SAP and Huawei providing integrated products with enhanced access and scalability.
"Our partnership highlights SAP's customer-centric ecosystem, which, together with partners, creates and delivers more value and innovations to customers. Through the collaboration between our two world-leading enterprises, we can offer powerfully integrated solutions to help global customers reduce implementation costs, improve profitability and achieve greater success,” said Hera Siu, SVP and president of SAP China.
The partnership comes on the back of the Chinese telecommunications equipment supplier reporting a 22% decline in its first-half operating profit. "The telecoms industry is seeing sluggish growth in 2012 owing to the global economic downturn, which has caused customers to reduce investments while the competition in this industry remains fierce," said Huawei spokesman Scott Sykes of the results.
Future plans for the new bedfellows include making their solutions available to global customers across a variety of industries, including government, utility, telecoms, finance, transportation, energy, commercial and digital.
