Huawei signs first deal in Spain

Grupalia, a fast growing Spanish metropolitan network operator, has signed a contract to use Huawei`sC&C08 Switch and Metro3000/1000 Optical Network System in its optical transport and backbone switching networks.

The deal marks the first time that Huawei`s competitive C&C08 switching system massively deployed worldwide has successfully entered the European market. Under the contract, Grupalia will deploy Huawei`s proven C&C08 switching platform in the capital area of Madrid. It allows Grupalia to effectively interconnect its network with that of Telefonica, the largest telecom operator in Spain, to provide a broad array of services including voice exchange, dedicated data access service and others.

The C&C08 switch features robust interfacing, a perfect billing system and a customized network management system. According to the newest report of Dittberner Associates, C&C08 ranks eighth in over 30 major switching systems worldwide in terms of installed lines.

Huawei will also provide its renowned Metro 3000/1000 Multi-services Transport Platform for this metropolitan network construction. It will enable Grupalia to offer high-quality multi-service transmission including TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing), Ethernet, STM-1/4, ATM / E3 for its business customers in the area of Madrid.

The completion of the project will help Grupalia to bring more value-added services to its business clients including ALLIANZ and CITY GROUP.
