Hyperion boosts business visibility

Hyperion Solutions has bolstered its dashboard and management reporting tools with the release of Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3 and the Hyperion Compliance Management Dashboard.

Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3 enables integrated management reporting and advanced analytics in an interactive dashboard environment. It includes a wizard-driven dashboard builder that enables business users to develop cost-effective, interactive, and personalised dashboards that require little technical programming.

"With innovations that improve visibility into financial and operational performance, dashboards are increasingly becoming a `must-have` for companies committed to performance management," says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of local Hyperion distributor Intellient. "Dashboards give companies a finger on the pulse regarding their key performance indicators. Interactive dashboards enable users to drill down from the dashboard into an organisation`s relational store, data warehouse, and transactional systems to find the root cause of problems highlighted."

The Hyperion Compliance Management Dashboard was built with the Hyperion Business Intelligence Platform, and marries internal controls with financial data, enabling financial users to gain visibility into their companies` Sarbanes-Oxley compliance status and potential risk exposures, improve reporting accuracy, and raise confidence in financial statements and disclosures.

Hyperion Essbase 7X is a highly scalable analytic engine that supports management reporting with interactive analysis, allowing customers to drill deep into data to create simplified reports that scale throughout the organisation. "Hyperion`s advanced analytic engine is specially optimised to handle large operational data sets common in retail and telecommunications industries," Scheepbouwer says. "Results from reports and analyses are easily accessible through Hyperion dashboards and the latest Hyperion Performance Suite release." The MDM Server is a new addition to the Hyperion BI offering and helps customers synchronise master data across financial, analytic, and transactional systems. Through master data management, organisations can maintain consistency and integrity of dimensions, hierarchies and business rules.

Master data management also enables organisations to ensure that continuous changes in their businesses are accurately and quickly reflected in their management reporting.

Improvements to Hyperion`s management reporting technology include its availability on Intel Itanium 64-bit processors running on the HP-UX operating system from HP. With this latest release, users of Itanium 2-based HP Integrity servers running on HP-UX are expected to have faster, more timely management reporting than what was previously available.
