Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI), a division of JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology, is to enable its customers to take advantage of Web-based query, reporting and information delivery solutions for relational and multi-dimensional data in Hyperion`s analytic platform. GBI distributes and supports Hyperion in SA and neighbouring states.
This is the result of an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and reseller agreement between Hyperion and Crystal Decisions and is based on that company`s product Crystal Reports, a high-performance reporting tool.
"The joint development resulting from this agreement will enable GBI`s Hyperion customers to seamlessly access a complete range of information for reporting, analysis, modelling and planning," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI.
GBI customers will have broad and easy access to relational and multi-dimensional data. With improved access, reporting and information delivery capabilities, companies will be able to distribute secure, real-time, interactive reports to every user, customer and partner to improve business performance, reduce operating costs and drive profitability.
According to Gartner, the move to support online analytical processing (OLAP) comes as it matures into a safe area for business intelligence (BI) technology investment.
Gartner says that while OLAP is an important BI technology, having a full business intelligence platform includes, among other things, managed querying and reporting as well as full Web deployment.
The expanded business and technical relationship between the two US companies is expected to result in seamless access to a broad range of data sources, such as relational data from ERP and CRM systems as well as multi-dimensional data for GBI customers using Hyperion.
Joint development to optimise the capabilities and performance of the combined solution is already underway.
