Solutions Africa 2005, the annual user conference co-hosted by Intellient and Hyperion, is set to take place from 2 to 5 October at The Grand Palm Hotel, Casino and Convention Resort in Gaborone, Botswana.
This conference has become the premier business performance management and business intelligence event of the year.
The successful implementation of Hyperion solutions at Buffalo City Council, Anglo Platinum, AngloGold Ashanti and First National Bank will be highlighted during the three days; and international customer HBOS will expand on how it maximises business performance management through the use of Hyperion Essbase.
"Solutions Africa is designed to bring Hyperion users together to get updates, view product enhancements and share experiences over the last year," says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of Intellient, the local distributor of Hyperion products and solutions.
"It is the perfect place for Intellient and Hyperion to interact with customers and to reinforce the message that business intelligence and business performance management are critical to business today. It is also the best place for customers to engage with each other and learn from each other`s experiences."
Scheduled to speak at the conference, Andre du Plessis, financial manager at First National Bank, will discuss how to solve old problems by taking a "fresh" look at Hyperion Essbase; while Buffalo City Council`s management accountant, Alistair Hofert, will present on Hyperion Intelligence and how the council is using it to provide high-level visibility on operations. Kerry-Ann Penfold, head of projects (finance) at AngloGold Ashanti, will discuss how Hyperion Planning has enabled the organisation to undertake cross-functional planning, interaction and collaboration across the business, and to track and monitor business plans and forecasts.
International company, HBOS, created from the merger between the Halifax Bank and the Bank of Scotland, will demonstrate how it uses Hyperion Essbase to monitor financial operations through cost centre, balance sheet, profit and loss and statutory reports.
"The conference focuses on helping customers enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Hyperion solutions already in use in their organisations, and other solutions that may be of benefit to them," Scheepbouwer says. "Master classes and workshops have been designed specifically for the Hyperion administrator and key end-users; while product and solution sessions will be used to introduce the latest and greatest technologies available and to view the most recent product advancements such as master data manager (MDM) server, Compliance Dashboard and Smartview."
The Master Class training sessions will be three-hour, in-depth updates covering topics such as practical product implementation overviews, administration, product and technology reviews, and product roadmaps.
Workshop training sessions will provide practical information on solutions, and discussions on best practices, rules, design and suggestions for product enhancements.
"As business becomes increasingly competitive, it is ever more important for organisations to increase profitability, more accurately predict bottom line results and efficiently execute plans that align business resources and objectives across the entire organisation," Scheepbouwer says. "Together with Hyperion, we believe that we have the solutions organisations need to prosper and maximise their competitive-edge. Solutions Africa 2005 is a channel through which we can show users what can be done using Hyperion solutions and where we can outline our plans for continually enhancing and enabling business intelligence and business performance management."
Hyperion`s speaker line-up for the conference includes Alain Blanc, Hyperion VP EMEA; Ron Owen and Wayne Heather, Hyperion partner technical account managers; Karine Picard, Hyperion Financial Management senior product manager; Mark Bauer, Director product Management; Toufic Wakim, Distinguished Software Engineer; and Bruce Viljoen, Hyperion regional manager: Southern Africa.
