Research firm IDC (International Data Corporation) has crowned Hyperion king of the financial and business performance management analytic market. This is shortly after IDC named the company the leading provider of multidimensional analysis and OLAP tools.
That accolade was based on 2001 worldwide software licence and maintenance revenues.
Hyperion also holds the lion`s share of the market in the financial and business performance management analytic market at 21%. GBI, a division of JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology, distributes, supports and maintains Hyperion solutions locally.
"With the current economic climate and increasing scrutiny of financial reports, our customers are demanding solutions that deliver an in-depth view of the entire organisation," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI. "In addition, they want to be able to use that visibility to map objectives to operational performance and to continually improve efficiencies and profits. These are the key factors we see driving customer demand for business performance management solutions across the enterprise."
Between 2000 and 2001 the financial and business performance management analytic applications market grew by 7,4%, a period during which Hyperion introduced a number of Web-based solutions that enabled organisations to scale applications across the enterprise, bringing improved capabilities for goal-setting, modelling, planning, monitoring, analysis and reporting to a greater number of businesses. This complete solution for business performance management empowers decision-makers with critical performance data to more effectively and efficiently drive corporate profit.
Customer lists are steadily growing for Hyperion`s two leading Web-based, enterprise-wide applications, Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management. These applications, along with applications such as Hyperion Business Modeling and Hyperion Performance Scorecard, are elements of Hyperion`s comprehensive Business Performance Management Suite.
"On the multidimensional analysis and OLAP tools front, many companies are realising the benefits they can gain by moving from a "silo/stovepipe" solution for departmental process to an enterprise-wide methodology of managing performance, supported by a unified business intelligence platform," concludes Cloete.
