Hyperion, Teradata partner to improve BI in retail

Johannesburg, 15 Aug 2006

Hyperion, represented locally by Intellient, has partnered with Teradata Solutions, a division of NCR Corporation, to ensure the company`s Retail Decisions analytic solution can interoperate with the Hyperion System 9 BI+ business intelligence platform.

Hyperion completed the Teradata Retail Decisions Benchmark to undertake this new working relationship with Teradata by performing complex retail analytics with high levels of performance, demonstrating the capability to meet scalability requirements of retailers.

"Passing the benchmark demonstrates that Hyperion`s performance levels meet the most exacting standards," says John Dinning, VP of Teradata Solutions. "Operational analytics is a key element of driving business performance management and by combining Retail Decisions with the Hyperion BI Platform and BPM applications, a complete view of the retailer`s business is provided."

The validation test was run on Hyperion System 9 BI+ Interactive Reporting, a module of Hyperion System 9 that provides executives, business users and analysts with intuitive user-directed relational query and analysis capabilities.

Interactive Reporting connects to the Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse and delivers dashboards and highly formatted reports. Teradata`s relational data can be augmented with the output of Hyperion`s multidimensional reporting services for broader reporting and presentation capabilities.

"In the intensely competitive retail industry, having the right technology is a real differentiator," says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of Intellient. "By working with Teradata to give customers a solution that will help them extract and manage their cross-functional data, Hyperion has made it possible for retailers to increase efficiency and raise customer satisfaction levels. Customer and vendor scorecarding, enhanced insight into sales reporting and seasonal planning all enable retailers to take return on investment-driven actions."

Teradata Retail Decisions gives retailers the ability to analyse any subset of their business and uses an extensible, industry-specific logical and physical data model to allow retailers to implement an organisation-wide solution that meets current and future business objectives.
