Treasury & Risk Management magazine has named John Kopcke, chief technology officer of Hyperion, as one of the 100 most influential people in finance.
Kopcke has been placed on the annual list of finance luminaries in the "Business Intelligents: Teaching Finance How to Do More than Excel" category.
"Kopcke is noted by the magazine as `the driving force behind Hyperion`s widely used financial consolidation and business intelligence analytic tools`," says Marc Scheepbouwer, MD of local Hyperion distributor Intellient. "Financial reporting and business intelligence cast an ever larger presence over the business of global finance. Kopcke`s placement in this list is an exceptional honour."
Kopcke joins some of the financial world`s highest profile influencers, including: Warren Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway; Ben Bernanke, chairman of the US Federal Reserve Board; Senator Edward Kennedy; and Senator John McCain. Hyperion president and CEO Godfrey Sullivan appeared on the same list in 2005.
With more than 25 years` experience with client/server and Web-based decision support and business intelligence solutions, Kopcke is responsible for the overarching product and technology strategy for Hyperion. He spends considerable time with key partners to leverage the company`s architecture, sharing Hyperion`s technology direction and technology platform messages.
"It is certainly an honour to be included on a list of true innovators, representing Hyperion and its partners," Kopcke says. "Even more exciting is the large number of Hyperion customers represented on this year`s list. Of the end-user companies listed, 52 use Hyperion to drive performance improvements throughout their operations. They include market leaders in financial services, manufacturing, and technology, and I consider them good company indeed."
Treasury & Risk Management editors poll an array of executives, bankers, economists, technology leaders and consultants to develop a list of candidates from which to compile the ultimate list.
With a readership composed of top CFOs, treasurers and controllers, Treasury & Risk Management is an essential hands-on publication for financial executives of the 21st century.
"In recent years, finance leaders have been forced to think out of the box to develop solutions to the challenges of Section 404 audits, globalisation and catastrophic risk management," says Pat Wechsler, editorial director of Treasury & Risk Management. "We believe it important to recognise individuals who have contributed significantly. Our selection this year focused on key trends, including corporate governance, seamless information flow and risk management. We sought out thought leaders making a difference, changing perceptions of the issues. It is one of our hardest assignments, but always among our most rewarding."
