IBM beefs up PureSystems

offerings to help enterprises leverage the collaborative capabilities of social media, mobile and computing into their enterprise apps, eWeek reports.

The latest release of IBM's WebSphere application server, which is used by more than 100 000 customers, serves as the cornerstone for these new capabilities, IBM said.

CBR quotes IBM application and integration middleware GM Marie Wieck as saying: "The introduction of patterns will revolutionise how applications are being developed and managed, simplifying tasks that organisations once spent months on and allowing them to refocus on innovation."

IBM has introduced a new Virtual Pattern Kit, which offers practical tools for developers to test out patterns of expertise by creating applications that run on PureSystems.

Wieck says the new software capability is designed to radically streamline the set-up and management of hardware and software resources, IT-Online writes.

PureSystems is the result of $2 billion in research, development and acquisitions over four years, and has been designed to help change the economics of IT so that organisations can reduce their IT costs and complexity and put more resources towards innovation and growth.
