IBM, Lawson Software partner

IBM has entered into a partnership with and solutions firm Lawson Software, to bring human capital management consulting services to small to medium enterprises, says eWeek.

The talent and workforce effectiveness solution for the midmarket is essentially IBM's HR expertise wrapped around Lawson's Strategic Human Capital Management software suite.

Processes addressed by this service include payroll, benefits, recruiting, talent management, employee self-service and succession planning.

Gevity HR sues

Gevity HR is suing a defendant known only as "money34202" for posting a message on Yahoo Finance that suggested the local HR outsourcing company was on the verge of going out of business.

Gevity is charging "John Doe", as the defendant is styled on the lawsuit, filed Monday in Manatee County circuit court, with defamation, trade libel and interference with business relations.

The suit, which seeks in excess of $15 000, also asks a judge for a permanent injunction against "money34202".

Patersons appoints COO

Pat Goepel has joined Patersons HR and Payroll Solutions as group COO, based in the Boston area. Goepel oversees Patersons' sales, implementation, and field operations, with a special focus on the company's growing presence in the Americas, says MSNBC.

As an investor, Goepel has also been appointed to Patersons' board of directors.

Most recently, Goepel was president of Fidelity HR Services in Marlborough, Massachusetts and before that, he was the CEO of Advantec and executive VP of Ceridian, where his 11-year career spanned a wide range of responsibilities, including sales, operations and mergers and acquisitions.
