The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking a number of players to take up leadership positions on its board of directors and its supporting organisations.
ICANN is seeking expressions of interest in the following positions: two members of the ICANN board of directors, two members of the Council of the Generic Names Supporting Organisation, one member of the Council of the Country-Code Names Supporting Organisation, and three members of the At Large Advisory Committee.
According to George Sadowsky, chairman of the nominating committee, the selected individuals will have an opportunity to work with colleagues from around the globe to address technical coordination problems and related policy development challenges.
Their focus, he says, will be on pushing the boundaries of knowledge, responsibility and perspective, and helping to ensure the stability and security of the Internet for critically important societal functions.
Candidates should have the correct level of qualifications and experience, be familiar with the Internet and should also be prepared to contribute to the collective decision-making process among ICANN`s constituencies, supporting organisations and advisory bodies.
Interested parties have until 1 July to make their applications for the various positions, with the selection of candidates taking place in October and service beginning December.
