The Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) has set final dates for its ADSL draft regulation hearings, stating they will take place on 24 and 25 May.
Mlindi Kgamedi, advisor to councillor Mamodupi Mohlala (who will co-chair the hearings), says: "Although the public hearings were originally planned to take place yesterday and today, they were set back due to the fact that this week would have been too short notice."
Day one will feature submissions from Internet Solutions, Vodacom, the Internet Service Providers` Association, the Internet Society of SA, MWEB and others. Day two will give MyADSL, Sentech, the second national operator and Telkom an opportunity to voice submissions to the 10-member ICASA panel.
Mohlala told ITWeb last month that she and fellow ICASA councillor and co-chair Nadia Bulbulia aim to "complete the process" and come to a concrete decision on the final form of the regulations before the end of June.
The hearings will take place in block C presentation room of ICASA`s offices at 164 Katherine Street, Sandton.
The issues to be discussed focus on pricing, speeds, caps and contention rates, among other things, noted Mohlala.
