ICL, Northern Province`s local government ProMIS great returns

Johannesburg, 03 Oct 2001

Renewed interest in ICL`s expenditure and income system for local authorities, ProMIS, has generated agreements worth over R4 million in the Northern Province over the last three months.

Months of hard work paid off when the Northern Province placed three back-to-back orders for ICL, the e-business solutions provider`s flagship product.

"This is just the beginning," says Krish Moodley, account manager in the Northern Province and Mpumalanga. "These orders have opened the doors to several other opportunities in the Northern Province, Mpumalanga and Ekurhuleni (East Rand Metropolitan Council)."

The three sites in the Northern Province are the Giyani municipality and the Mopani and Vhembe district councils. Moodley adds: "We owe a great deal of gratitude to our SMME partner, Keetile IT Solutions. Their involvement and recommendation opened strategic doors for us and is also a testimony to ICL`s commitment to its SMME strategy - one of the few SMME strategies in SA that really works!"

The ICL and Keetile teams have recently completed all phases at Giyani, except for training and are already in the process of implementing the expenditure and regional services levy system at the Mopani district council.

The first phase implementation of the expenditure and regional service levy system at Vhembe district council has been completed with ProMIS`s financial system (salaries and human resources and asset tracking modules) to be completed in the next phase.

Moodley remarks that this project was characterised by a speedy and first-time-right modus operandi. "The whole province used to be run by one district council and the demarcation in December 2000 saw six new district councils established with hundreds of employees moving into their new positions - making ICL the first IT solutions provider to Mopani and Vhembe. Our challenge was to ensure that they got paid at the correct stations without any delay, which we did."

In conclusion, Moodley says the future of ICL`s local government offerings look particularly positive. "It is not only ICL teamwork that counts, but also our commitment to partners such as Keetile."
