ICL SA has released Version 7.0 of its locally developed, local government software package ProMIS, which includes new features that further streamline local government business processes.
ICL is the country`s most successful supplier of local government solutions with over 280 systems installed.
ICL local government support manager Louisa Brand said the latest version includes a comprehensive online enquiry facility; full audit trails and unlimited history; workflow of business processes; tighter access security and increased flexibility in tariff structures. The new version is fully GAMAP compliant and will interface to any external asset management package.
It also includes multi-streaming of processes such as in billing runs; and the categorisation of debtors into sectors such as councillors, employees and ratepayers, for example.
Version 7.0 adds functionality in terms of comprehensive reporting for councillors, treasurers and CEOs, giving an analysis by specific geographical wards if required.
Brand said it is now possible to do exception reporting on debtor late payments by geographical area, amount outstanding or even debtor selection based on the value of their property.
She added: "There are other local government solutions available, but most do not comply fully with local government requirements. This is because they are debtor-centric and not developed from the ground up as a local government solution. ProMIS is specific to local government and is a property-focused system. It is not debtor-focused. This is far more beneficial to local governments in terms of tracking property payment histories for example."
Brand said ProMIS is not a financial or MRP-based solution adapted to the local government environment like so many other packages on offer. "As a result, all ongoing development and enhancements are based on input from local governments in SA," she added.
"Overall, the enhancements in version 7 are the result of extensive collaboration with our local government customers, incorporating new features specifically to meet changing requirements. ICL`s aim is also to continually enhance the product to their benefit and contribute to improved productivity within local government divisions," concluded Brand.
