Many developers are assisted in the design of interfaces using the iCon client, without writing code and being able to test locally before deploying to production servers, which greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to complete implementations.
"XML has also formed a great part of iCon and helped solve complex data integration tasks, handling data from various sources and from multidimensional databases to various targets using different kinds of logic. This logic is easily designed and depicted using the client GUI. If a change to a process needs to be implemented, all that needs to happen is a change in the logic of the process and remapping of data elements, rather than rewriting code. This type of architecture greatly improves the scalability of iCon and adjusting to the ever-changing environments a lot more efficiently," comments Hart.
iCon has changed the way IT manages information with migration and the convergence of data integration, by enabling information flow to be controlled at a centralised point. With the assistance of iCon Monitor, a separate process monitoring the behaviour of interfaces on one or more iCon servers, interfaces (either on the same server or a DR server) may be configured to automatically restart in the event of a failure.
