The Department of Defence, through its version of the State IT Agency, Armscor, has awarded IT companies contracts worth over R18 million in recent months.

In November, Armscor awarded Belay Knowledge Management a R771 440 deal for a Verity upgrade, as well as SharePoint modules. Real IRM scored a R500 000 contract at the Naval Dockyard in Simon's Town, near Cape Town, and The Document Warehouse was paid R34 200 for "rendering an off-site archival service". This was a follow-on contract from a R573 908.97 tender awarded in September.

Datacentrix was paid R1 355 387 in September for unspecified equipment and software. Business Connexion received R620 709.36 for a server blade purchase and maintenance, the deal being a continuation of work won in a bid in 2006. T-Systems won a R12 767 963.83 contract in June to render an "IT service to Armscor" and the agency paid Rentworks R43 213.42 to rent computer equipment.
