ICT trouble brews in Uganda
One of the most commented upon projects in Uganda today is the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI) project and comments are getting on the nerves of the people who want to make business sense out of the project which is owned by government, writes AllAfrica.com.
The NBI was one of the best ideas that came with the creation of the new information and communication technology ministry.
The same project was supposed to facilitate the operations of its other half, the Electronic Government Infrastructure project.
Ministry facilitates e-govt export
The Korean ministry of public administration and security has decided to organise an international ICT collaboration commission to facilitate e-government export, reports Korea IT Times.
The plan is to upgrade e-government export by adopting the process of diagnosing the importing country's e-government industry as a whole and then receiving orders.
The ministry says that a memorandum of understanding was exchanged with the Vietnamese government on 9 August, agreeing to form the commission.
Fujitsu aims to double revenue
IT solution provider Fujitsu System Business in Thailand is aiming to double its revenue by 2011, from current revenue of Bt2.5 billion to Bt5 billion, says The Nation.
The vice-president of the company's service and solution group, Tavanant Nilkuha, says Fujitsu System Business was accelerating a service shift, to focus more on system-integration services and expanding its Fujitsu platform business, including Intel-based servers and storage.
He says IT services were expected to grow by 14.2% this year, to reach a value of Bt28.5 illion.
