(July 2, 2001): NetScreen Technologies, Inc, a leading developer of ASIC-based Internet security systems and appliances, says that IDC, a leading global market research firm, has ranked NetScreen as the leading Internet security vendor in the high-end firewall/VPN appliance market, with number two and number three rankings in IDC`s low-end and mid-range markets.
IDC`s recently released report, "Return of the Black Box: Firewall/VPN Security Appliances Unleashed," states that NetScreen has 57% of the high-end market, which it defines as products in the over-$50 000 price band.
IDC expects significant growth in this high-end market with overall revenue growing to $281.5 million by 2005. In the same timeframe, IDC predicts total revenue for the firewall/VPN security appliance market will grow to $4 billion.
The IDC report also stated that NetScreen achieved the second largest market share in the $300 to $1 000 low-end price band. In the $5 000 to $10 000 price band, NetScreen tied for third.

"By capturing the high-end market, NetScreen has demonstrated that its systems are ideal for the largest security deployments by services providers and enterprises."
