IDION picks up Microsoft Support Point status

Johannesburg, 21 Sep 1999

IDION Consulting, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the JSE-listed IDION Technology Holdings Group, has been appointed as one of the first Microsoft Recommended Support Points for Application Development in South Africa.

IDION Consulting will develop, and support the development of, applications for specific business needs in the Western Cape and Gauteng regions.

This is according to Hennie Laubscher, director of IDION Consulting, who points out that Idion can now add the RSP status to that of having been a beta test site for MS SQL Server 7.0 in 1998, and having been nominated as the only beta test site in S A for MS Exchange Version 6, known as the Platinum Project, in 1999. " In both cases, beta test site status places Idion at the forefront of technological advances," Laubscher says.

IDION provides Microsoft support in the following areas involving its products:

.         Performance enhancement;

.         Code and software design analysis;

.         Integration between Microsoft technology and other technologies such as ORACLE, SAP, Sybase and AS 400;

.         Installation, deployment and integration;

.         Business consulting;

.         Architecture design;

.         Custom Application Development.

"IDION Consulting has premier skills in a wide range of Microsoft technologies, including MS SQL Server, MS Exchange, MS Outlook 98, MS Windows, MS Visual Basic, Visual Basic C, Interdev, MS Site Server, Oracle and MS Office," says Gordon Frazer, manager of the Business Solutions Group at Microsoft SA.

Frazer emphasises that it is this broad-based, well-developed level of skills and proficiency in its product offerings that makes Idion Consulting the logical choice as a RSP.

"Furthermore, this appointment will result in even greater exposure to an ever widening variety of technologies, which will present further systems integration and application development challenges," he says.

"Microsoft Business Solutions Group looks forward to an equally productive and dynamic relationship with Idion Consulting as an RSP," he says.
