Microsoft has awarded Idion Technology Holdings` South African arm, Idion Solutions, Gold Certified Partner status.
Ken Jarvis, appointed Idion Solutions CEO in May this year, says the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Programme for E-Commerce Solutions identifies companies that have proven their commitment and expertise in building or delivering e-commerce solutions based on Microsoft technologies.
The award has come at a key time for the company, which has recently undertaken significant enhancement and repositioning of its strategy moving forward, he adds.
"Idion Solutions` emphasis on research and development, and historically close, synergistic working relationship with Microsoft SA, has resulted in the company developing leading-edge, highly innovative products and solution sets around Microsoft technology," says Microsoft SA deputy MD Gordon Frazer.
"Latterly, these have also been developed in very close alignment with Microsoft`s .Net strategy, to enable customers to start getting their businesses .Net-enabled and .Net-ready."
Jarvis says Idion Solutions has made a commitment to align itself exclusively to Microsoft as the backbone of all its implementations, and the company has bet its future on the Microsoft .Net strategy.
"Microsoft`s .Net strategy essentially realises the vision of the empowered user, enabling access to all of a user`s data and applications anywhere, at any time, and from any device," he adds.
According to Jarvis, .Net will give rise to a whole new generation of applications, created and connected by today`s software developers, using the .Net platform, with XML as an industry standard.
"Businesses will benefit from radically increased efficiency and productivity, as .Net brings employees, customers, data and business applications into a coherent and intelligently interactive whole."
Jarvis says the company has identified three key objectives: to build synergistic and mutually beneficial business partnerships, annuity income streams and to maintain a strong investment into research and development.
Idion Solutions will take existing Microsoft offerings such as Sharepoint portal, Digital Dashboard and Biztalk, and create extended value-added solution sets on top of these in the enterprise information portal, business intelligence and business-to-business space respectively.
Idion Solutions has also defined three vertical target markets: the financial services, retail and manufacturing on which it will focus its efforts.
"All our market offerings will feature built-in mobility, which is a market space that we see growing exponentially alongside the developments in the .Net arena," Jarvis says.
