IDION subsidiary Vision Solutions and IBM take ORION on the road

Joint road show hits 13 cities in the Americas, Europe and Asia
Johannesburg, 18 Sep 2003

IDION Technology Holdings` subsidiary Vision Solutions, a leading managed availability solutions provider, yesterday announced a worldwide joint road show with IBM in support of ORION, the industry`s first true multi-platform information availability solution.

The road show began in late August and will stop in 13 cities including Irvine, Chicago, Milan, Barcelona, Dortmund, Miami, Buenos Aires, London, Stockholm, Warwick, Brussels, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hong Kong.

The road show is geared towards introducing IT executives to ORION and explaining the benefits of the new component-based solutions.

ORION`s architecture is completely modular and highly scalable. This enables companies of any size to meet their specific availability needs of today with the unique ability to seamlessly scale-up the solution as required to meet the evolving needs of the future by simply adding modules to a common engine without ever changing the common infrastructure or interface.

This model allows businesses to reduce their total cost of ownership in terms of training, administration management costs, and vendor support translating into improved ROI.

"ORION is the only multi-platform HA solution today that supports all the iSeries environments and topologies," said David Wegman, Executive Vice-President of Marketing for Vision Solutions. "The single interface and modular architecture extend the value proposition around iSeries and delivers significant cost savings for iSeries customers."

The road show is part of a three-month worldwide joint roll-out plan and will also provide an overview of IBM`s newly announced HA and CBU Servers presented by Steve Finnes, Worldwide Segment Manager for High Availability and Clustering, IBM.

"Today`s businesses face the ongoing challenge of integrating management functions, data access and availability across the enterprise," said Steve Finnes, product manager for high availability solutions, IBM iSeries. "ORION`s multi-platform capabilities allow IBM to extend the iSeries value proposition into new markets and opportunities for the company and its worldwide partner community."
