IDU appoints Comparex Africa as premier reseller

Partnership will fast-track route to market
Johannesburg, 15 May 2003

In a move set to deliver significant business opportunities for local software developer, IDU Software and Comparex Africa, Comparex Africa`s Tetra division has been appointed the premier reseller of IDU`s products. For Comparex, the partnership adds a home-grown, leading-edge product suite to its portfolio and enhances its ability to deliver integrated solutions to businesses.

IDU`s Concept Product suite focuses on the collection, collation and delivery of financial information, in order to streamline the financial accounting and budgeting systems of businesses. Its clients include Eskom Enterprise Telecommunications, Old Mutual, Investec, Sage and Clicks.

According to Eskom Enterprises, IDU`s products enable it to slash budgeting cycle timeframes by a third, consolidate financial systems across its diverse operational regions and empower each financial manager to institute tighter fiscal controls. The upshot is millions of rands worth of savings in productivity efficiencies and more stringent cost management systems.

According to IDU managing director, Kevin Phillips, the partnership with Comparex will accelerate its penetration into the corporate market, thereby facilitating significant growth in its own business. "Comparex is the only premier reseller of IDU`s products and is key to our channel strategy. In addition to its sales and marketing expertise - and as a result of its experience with Sage Enterprise Solutions* - Comparex Africa has the necessary technical skills and a thorough understanding of its clients` business needs to deliver and tailor our solution to individual requirements. Partnering with Comparex has allowed IDU to focus on our core competencies as we continue to enhance and develop our user-friendly technology."

Stephen Howe, Tetra`s division manager, believes IDU`s solutions will add significant value to its customers` businesses. "Comparex is always on the lookout for solutions that will deliver bottom line benefits to our clients. IUD`s technology is locally developed, rand-based therefore affordable, easy to customise and has rapid implementation timeframes."

Comparex is largest provider of Sage outside of the UK

Phillips says the easy-to-use interface and rapid implementation is what further differentiates IDU`s products from other financial accounting products. "Our solutions give managers who do not necessarily have a financial background the tools to input and access information in a format they can understand. The products are Web-based, meaning that managers on the ground can get instant access to up-to-date financial information and, at a regional and national level, senior executives of companies can get a real-time, consolidated view of financial performance. Coupled with our Microsoft Gold Business Intelligence Status, IDU is well-placed to deliver our solutions across the enterprise."

IDU`s product suite complements Comparex`s existing solutions, such as Cognos, which focuses on the analysis and delivery of information. "Together, IDU`s products and EIS tools such as Cognos deliver a powerful, benefit-driven solution for companies looking to realise efficiencies through leading-edge technology," concludes Howe.
