Idu Software achieves Microsoft ISV competency

Johannesburg, 03 Aug 2005

Cape-headquartered finance budgeting and product development specialist, idu Holdings, has been awarded independent software vendor (ISV) competency certification by Microsoft.

The achievement is idu`s second competency in the past six months - the first being for the company`s information worker competencies to add to the business intelligence competency achieved in 2004. The competencies are achieved on the back of idu`s capabilities around the Microsoft Office solutions toolset for enabling easier, simpler, multidimensional financial data reporting.

Through software development subsidiary idu Software, idu Holdings has been delivering value-added products around the financial, sales budgeting, reporting and asset management functions of medium to large sized organisations for the last seven years. The success of the company`s core product set, idu-Concept, which focuses on budgeting and financial reporting, has made it the de facto leader in the budget and forecasting space in SA.

The Web-based nature of idu`s solutions enables ease of use, minimal product training, rapid implementation and deployment.

One of the requirements for Gold Certified status is the recognition of a Microsoft competency, tools designed to help differentiate a partner`s capabilities with specific Microsoft technologies to customers looking for a particular type of solution set. Each competency has a unique set of requirements and benefits, formulated to accurately represent the specific skills and services that partners bring to the technology sector.

Microsoft Gold Certified Partners that have obtained this competency have a successful record of developing and marketing packaged software based on Microsoft technologies.

"The achievement of Gold Certification is confirmation of the status of idu Holdings as market leader in the finance budgeting arena," says idu Software MD Kevin Phillips. "We are delighted with the increased profile this recognition will give our products and our company. The achievement allows us to clearly promote our expertise and relationship with Microsoft to our customers. The benefits provided through our Gold Certified status will allow us to continue to enhance the offerings that we provide for our customers."

Categories for Gold Certification include business intelligence, collaborative solutions, e-commerce, enterprise systems, hosting and applications services, learning solutions, security solutions, software products and support services.

"Solutions competencies are an important way for Microsoft to better enable independent software vendors (ISV) to meet customer needs," said Sanjay Parthasarathy, corporate VP of the Platform Strategy & Partner Group at Microsoft. "They allow ISVs to retain and win customers with their in-depth knowledge of solutions-based Microsoft platform technologies. Microsoft has a long history of working closely with ISV partners to help deliver compelling solutions and applications to our mutual customers, and the solutions competencies are an important step in continuing to enhance vital relationships with ISVs worldwide."
