Cape Town-based idu Software's business finance software has extended its focus to the UK and European markets with the establishment of a master distributor, idu International in the UK.
Idu International will focus its efforts on establishing a business partner channel in the UK and Europe, with potential to further extend product distribution to the US and the Middle East markets.
This international growth follows the success of the idu-Concept suite of financial performance management applications, across southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Idu Software has seen deployments across the full spectrum of industry sectors from insurance, IT and telecoms organisations to educational institutions, manufacturing companies and mining houses.
"We see this increased international expansion as an inevitable consequence of the success the idu-Concept suite has had over the last decade," says Kevin Phillips, MD of idu Software. Demand from potential value-added resellers and distributors abroad for channel partner opportunities has led to the establishment of idu International in the UK and the subsequent launch of the idu Alliance Partner Network covering the UK and Europe.
"Being based in the UK, financial hub of the European region, idu International is ideally positioned to service the European market," says John Berry, MD of idu International.
Through the establishment of the idu Alliance Partner Network, the company plans to secure well qualified channel partners who specialise in complementary products, such as enterprise financial or business intelligence solutions, for whom the idu -Concept budgeting and reporting solutions will be a natural extension of their existing product set.
The alliance partner network will be multi-tiered, with system integration partners and value-added resellers to sell the product suite, and implementation partners who will focus on consulting.
"In this economic climate it is vital that organisations implement tighter financial controls than ever before. The idu product suite allows companies greater insight into their budgeting and forecasting process, and enables them to extend ownership of critical enterprise management functions through to individual cost centres, so managers can take responsibility for their own budgets," says Berry.
"Idu Software has a world-class solution that is more pertinent than ever to the current conditions of the financial market. We are confident the idu -Concept product suite will be well accepted by both the reseller channel and enterprise customers."
John and Mary Berry, directors of idu International, are both well known in South African IT circles. John Berry was previously regional director for Symantec Corporation's Middle East and Africa region before moving to the US to head up Symantec Global Strategic Technology Partnership division. Mary Berry launched Borland Software and Lotus Development (now part of IBM software) in South Africa in the mid-1990's.
