IDXOnline announces development of IDX Control System Monitor

Johannesburg, 09 Sep 2004

IDXOnline has announced the development of IDX Control Systems Monitor (CSM), which provides a single, black-box solution to any communications network monitoring requirement. The solution integrates a compact hardware platform with IDXOnline`s industrial strength IDX core to provide a network data exchange gateway which delivers cost-effective, high-performance information exchange, monitoring and diagnostic capabilities.

Applications include communications networks where any combination of industrial field bus networks, control networks and even office networks must exchange data. In addition, CSM is ideal for those that require the power of a high performance information gateway, which provides real-time monitoring and diagnostic capabilities, on and off-site.

IDXOnline Industrial Solutions business manager David Bean says it is the perfect solution where comprehensive, cost-effective, data historian services or only simple data logging services are required to log critical data on any network.

"CSM also provides the unique capabilities of monitoring and management of any type of networked system remotely in conjunction with the ability to provide real-time data application interfaces and monitoring," says Bean. "Industrial networks based on PROFIBUS are ideal candidates for CSM applications, especially in light of the numerous technical problems experienced locally with these networks."

The IDX CSM dynamic monitoring abilities are brought about by a number of key features, all customisable to specific requirements, especially where monitoring and management of the system is performed remotely. IDX CSM can be GSM/GRPS, Bluetooth or wireless Ethernet enabled allowing for off-site monitoring and wireless on-site data collection and management.

"OSIsoft Echo historian services provide fully featured, high performance historian services embedded into the device. Finally, a CSense development environment platform option is available for visually analysing real-time or historian data," concludes Bean.
