iForum 2006: Fuelling business efficiency and growth

Johannesburg, 05 Jul 2006

According to Citrix, a leading company in secure mobile access technologies, iForum, Africa, the company`s annual mobility event, has become the largest one-day IT event in the country.

It is targeted primarily at the key business decision-maker, but iForum has always been well-attended by a broad spectrum of IT and business people including CXOs, IT managers and administrators and line-of-business owners.

This year`s event, entitled "Fuelling business efficiency and growth", places a large emphasis on mobility to drive a better work experience across the workplace and promote the benefits of on-demand access as part of developing a flexible working strategy.

According to Chris Norton, Citrix Africa MD: "We will use this event to define the role technology plays in developing a mobility strategy. We will also be shedding light on future developments coming from Citrix."

Norton adds that the company intends showcasing the alliances it has with vendors such as the likes of Microsoft and HP, among others.

"We will also be able to showcase Citrix`s capabilities and solutions through practical customer implementations presented by the customers themselves," Norton says.

Mobility and secure access are growing areas of the industry with adoption across a number of vertical markets.

In this light, iForum aims to be a great meeting of minds, where the take-away opportunity for attendees is that existing access strategies can be put to test, new strategies can be developed and technologies can be leveraged to optimise existing infrastructure.

Themes

This year`s iForum will cover a number of themes including `Fuelling business efficiency and growth`, technologies and solutions and technology workshops.

"There is a growing demand for practical IT solutions that deliver both efficiency and agility - cost savings and growth. Effective information access is critical to these goals," Norton says.

"Users want their access experience to be invisible: they just want it to work, they don`t care how," he adds.

"However, the IT team need access to be highly visible - so that they can observe, monitor, measure and track who is using what information from where and how. The technology and solutions track provides an overview of access infrastructure solutions, from a blend of business and technical perspectives.

"The technology workshops will give you all you need to know about getting the best from your Citrix implementation and how to implement an infrastructure that is secure-by-design.

"This track," says Norton, "explains how to optimise and quickly and easily expand your existing Citrix environment to meet changing business needs. Learn how to get the best return from your investment in Citrix solutions - and see how Citrix solutions are developing to help you."

* The event will be held at Vodaworld, Midrand, on 19 July.
