Imvotech - from fledgling to rising star

Johannesburg, 21 Nov 2005

With true humble beginnings of four employees in Durban, Imvotech opened its doors for business five years ago.

Since then, the company has expanded its staff complement to 35 employees and bolstered its presence to encompass offices in Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg, while all the time maintaining its status as a 100% black-owned and BEE focused organisation.

Imvotech CEO Cecil Machi explains the secret to his company`s success: "From the onset we focused on the basic tenets of delivering the utmost in customer service and service delivery, while forging the closest of relationships with both our customers and suppliers."

He says Imvotech`s focus on service delivery and customer service stems from the company`s desire to quell an unfair perception that has existed in the South African market for some time.

"Anyone running a BEE company in the local market will testify to the fact that such organisations are not always perceived as the best when it comes to delivering on client needs and affording them a high level of customer service. When we started Imvotech, we made it our goal to prove this perception wrong and improve the overall image of BEE companies," he says.

"A key factor in us dispelling this perception was to be synonymous with excellent service delivery and customer service. That`s where our close relationships with suppliers like Tarsus Technologies have proven to be truly invaluable."

Machi says from the very beginning, Tarsus saw the potential in Imvotech and the value that this relationship could bring to the table.

"The newly-established Inala Technologies (as Imvotech was then known) had no trading history on which to make a calculated risk assessment. Nonetheless, we took a decision to assist the fledgling business spread its wings based purely on Cecil Machi`s reputation for excellence and commitment," says Shireen Chetty, account manager at Tarsus Technologies` KwaZulu-Natal office.

"We provided him with the necessary credit facilities and a dedicated team, needed to make his mark in the industry. The heights to which his company has grown over the past five years is testimony to the sound judgment our management team made when they decided to assist Imvotech," says Chetty.

"Understanding the risks inherent in the BEE world, the Tarsus management team assisted us with pre-sales support and technical acumen when it came to large roll-outs and complex configurations while always ensuring pricing was agreeable and financial assistance was close at hand," Machi adds.

In line with Imvotech`s commitment to proving that BEE companies can succeed and deliver, Machi says he wishes for other BEE players to achieve the same success as Imvotech has.

"Ultimately, there`s one thing we`ve learnt over the years and that is by having the right vision, documenting it in a business plan, and working towards that vision one step at a time, any company can realise its growth potential," he concludes.
