IMX wins Boewe agency in SA

Johannesburg, 06 Apr 1999

MGX Holdings subsidiary IMX has been awarded exclusive distribution rights for the German-based Boewe Systec range of paper management systems in South Africa.

Boewe Systec has been developing paper management systems for more than 50 years from its Augsburg HQ. With annual turnover exceeding R1bn, Boewe is a global European market leader in the high-volume paper insertion industry. It services most major banking, insurance and financial firms in global regions including Europe, America, Japan and Australia.

Boewe sales manager Kay Wendler says the company has been well represented in the South African market for the past 15 years, with the exception of its midrange and high-end systems.

"Our flagship products have enjoyed limited exposure for two reasons," says Wendler. "Not only were the dynamics of the market difficult to judge from abroad, but the search for a business partner with the dedication and expertise we demand has taken time."

Wendler says that in IMX Boewe has chosen a partner that will nurture its long-term goals and promote its entire product family from a position of leadership.

"IMX has been identified as one of the top three document and paper management companies in South Africa, fitting our profile as market leaders," he adds.

Boewe systems are designed around a modular system adaptable to any of the six individual products in its range. For example, it has developed a range of cutters and feeders suitable for either continuous feed or cut-sheet applications, depending on production volume of the system.

IMX sales and marketing director Leon Theron says the Boewe contract underscores IMX`s drive to lead the paper management market across the board.

Boewe has supplied a pair of midrange and high-end machines valued at over R2m to kickstart IMX`s market education campaign.

"We are running a series of open-day workshops for all our clients and interested parties involved in paper management," says Theron. "In the same timeframe, our team members training in Germany can offer our clients a comprehensive upgrade and migration route to Boewe."
