Incubation workshop registration reminder

Flagship business and technology incubator seeks input from interested parties to further innovative programme for university-based incubation.
Johannesburg, 19 Sep 2006

Flagship business and technology incubator, SoftstartBTI has issued a reminder to stakeholders and interested parties to register for the Annual Tertiary Education Satellite Incubation Programme (TESIP) Workshop on 3 October. Taking place at the Tshwane University of Technology, the focus of the workshop will be on highlighting the benefits of incubation and the harnessing of technological innovation for commercial gain at tertiary institutions.

"We are looking for representatives from tertiary institutions, the incubation community and the private and public sectors," confirms Leonie Greyling, Projects Manager and TESIP coordinator for SoftstartBTI. "We are keen to involve anyone who may have a role to play in developing an action plan for the advancement of satellite incubation at tertiary institutions and at local community level. Space is limited to 80 delegates so please contact us and/or register immediately."

The TESIP Workshop will run in parallel with the fourth International Conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Tshwane University of Technology and will use the opportunity to set up an advisory body to oversee the establishment, evaluation and monitoring of university-based incubation programmes. "Although we will be highlighting the benefits of incubation by presenting successful case studies, the focus this year is very much on practical action," maintains Greyling, "and the advisory panel is seen as a critical next step to take things forward."

To find out more about the workshop, register for the event at: http://www.bti.co.za/docs/tesip_invitation_registration.doc or to find out more about TESIP in general, contact either Leon Lourens (leon@sbti.co.za) on (011) 695 4800 or Leonie Greyling (leonie@sbti.co.za) on (012) 349 2355.
