India leads in outsourcing

India is outstripping competitors worldwide for cost and service quality in global outsourcing, according to a report, says ZD Net.

The report found most UK businesses that offshore IT are now choosing at least one provider in India.

Indian outsourcing companies were ranked in four out of the top five positions for client satisfaction in the survey of 320 of the UK's top IT spenders.

Raqmiyat expands

Systems integrator Raqmiyat is expanding its outsourcing capabilities to meet growing demand for outsourcing in the UAE, reports ArabianBusiness.

Raqmiyat has increased headcount and put in place expertise on service delivery management, project management, change management and technical expertise in response to the expanding demand.

IDC predicts the outsourced IT services market in the UAE will be worth about $170 million in 2010, some 22% of all local IT expenditure.

IT outsourcing spend increases

Spending on outsourcing IT services is likely to increase in the face of weakening global economies, according to a poll of IT professionals, reports PR-USA.

Of the 250 respondents from global companies, 52% said the impact of financial turmoil would prompt them to increase their outsourcing spend, Syntel's TrendScan study revealed.

While 28% said their companies would spend less overall to conserve budgets, 19% said their outsourcing outlay would remain at around the same level as last year.
