Individuality, speed and hunger vital to survive market, says Integr8 IT

National integration specialist Integr8 IT has attracted a niche following within a new market - self-created and perpetuated. The company`s growing list of admirers see value in a player of a different sort - one that is determined to create an impression based on individuality, unique , skills and support.

Since its inception, the driving force behind the national company has been its unique proposition to clients and its proactive nature. While many other companies continue to `box drop`, Integr8 IT believes the onus is on the solution provider to sell a solution, not a product. In short, says Robert Sussman, technical director at Integr8 IT, it is about service, support and confidence.

"The name of the game is to stay hungry - Integr8 IT has been fast on its feet to establish and prove a solid reputation in the market. Our viewpoint is that clients don`t want products, they want solutions. There must be pre- and post-sale support and service that will, ultimately, serve as proof that a solution is a solution. Too many players simply drop the product and disappear. Our philosophy is based on the banishment of several outdated corporate ideology`s including that of an ivory tower concept: barking orders are out - curiosity, initiative and innovation are in. Our reputation is based on a solid track record and technical skill," says Sussman.

The company has made a solid investment in both these departments. On the service and delivery side, Integr8 IT continues to seek partnerships that hold value in terms of skills acquisition and an increase in intellectual capital. To date, the company has established several key strategic partnerships including Computer Associates, Microsoft, Citrix, 3Com, MTN and Intel.

"We have made a definite investment in our own version of knowledge management - namely the transformation of the and human capital into structural capital. This means our knowledge and experience is retained within the organisation. We have an open plan that ensures social interaction and we have standardised the office so internal moves are much easier," says Lance Fanaroff, director at Integr8 IT.

From a business and human resource perspective, this strategy falls in line with the original company blueprint. As Mark Levy, director at Integr8 IT, explains, the company has always adopted a steadfast and persistent approach to achieving the best through its personnel.

"To survive in this competitive market, you have to create a learning organisation where knowledge is shared and retained. Integr8 IT has a deliberate strategy to attract and take on the most highly skilled and competent people. The company`s key asset is the calibre of its people - we need to shake off complacency because although we may be growing, it is dangerous to start thinking like a large company. When you combine technical and business acumen, you have a `rare bird`," says Levy.
