Cyber-Ark, represented in South Africa by New Generation Solutions (NGS), has been chosen as the top privilege account management (PAM) product in a recent objective product comparison conducted by Network World magazine in US.
Cyber-Ark develops and markets digital vaults for securing and managing privileged identities and highly-sensitive information within and across global enterprise networks.
The Cyber-Ark Enterprise Password Vault (EPV) emerged as Network World's 'Clear Choice' winner after expert reviewers conducted an exhaustive evaluation of four PAM suites. Network World applauded the Cyber-Ark solution for offering a wide choice of platforms, for its flexibility and for its ease of use.
"We picked Cyber Ark EPV as the Clear Choice winner as it offers the widest compatibility list for operating systems, applications and 'rolling your own' passwords," write Network World reviewers, Tom Henderson and Rand Dvorak.
"It also offers an in-depth understanding of directory services that we used in that it's able to find them, deal with them, and get moving in very short order with a degree of flexibility that was often more robust than the competition."
Network World says Cyber-Ark's EPV is superior to the competition because of its simpler approach to PAM. The magazine says four key components place Cyber-Ark above the rest: the Enterprise Password Vault, its Central Password Manager, its Password Vault Web Access System, and the Application Identity Management component.
Network World also gave Cyber-Ark EPV top marks for its rapid integration with directory services and applications, and its deep and extensive high and wide compatibility with a wide range of target systems, devices and applications.
"Not a week goes by without news of yet another organisation falling prey to Privileged Identity Theft. Against this backdrop, we are seeing strong demand in South Africa and the rest of the world for solutions that allow companies to control who has privileged access to company data and systems as well as what they have access to," says Guy Golan, managing director of NGS, a subsidiary of SecureData Holdings.
Cyber-Ark is enjoying a significant increase in market traction, with a dramatic 40% increase in its global customer base during 2007 as enterprises sought a product that could help secure, manage, update and control their powerful privileged identities in a digital capacity.
The company currently leads the PIM market with 25% of the Fortune 50 as customers. A number of South African companies have bought or are evaluating Cyber-Ark solutions for PAM.
Cyber-Ark's vaulting technology provides a combination of password and data access, as well solutions to facilitate the easy, efficient and secure sharing of sensitive information with customers, business partners and suppliers.
Concludes Golan: "PAM is no longer an overlooked niche market, but an essential component of any enterprise's single identity management solution. We are pleased to see that our partner, Cyber-Ark is increasing viewed as the market leader in this space, both in terms of installed base as well as future direction and vision."
