Johannesburg, 10 Feb 2005

South Africa`s leader in IT governance and CobiT services and software solutions today announced that it will sponsor the CobiT User Convention to be held on 21 and 22 February at the Cape Town convention centre.

As the premier CobiT training organisation, Info Sec Africa has provided training to over 2 000 people across Africa. Our training programs have been developed from our knowledge of CobiT over the last eight years, our projects to implement CobiT at various enterprise within SA and on the African continent. Info Sec Africa has pioneered the development of IT governance in SA and has organised IT governance events and provided CobiT training since 1998.

Partnering with the IT Governance Network in sponsoring this event enables us to further support the development of IT governance in Africa and increase the visibility of CobiT, a global standard for better governance for information technology, and generate a consistent understanding of CobiT and its techniques for better IT governance.

The CobiT User Convention is a two-day event, presented by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) and is exclusively designed for organisations that are adopting the COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) guidance on best practice for IT. The event will feature case studies and discussion groups to address how COBIT is employed from both an IT governance and assurance perspective.

COBIT

COBIT, issued by the IT Governance Institute and now in its third edition, is increasingly internationally accepted as good practice for control over information, IT and related risks. Its guidance enables an enterprise to implement effective governance over the IT that is pervasive and intrinsic throughout the enterprise. In particular, CobiT`s Management Guidelines component contains a framework responding to management`s need for control and measurability of IT by providing tools to assess and measure the enterprise`s IT capability for the 34 CobiT IT processes.
