InFocus extends DisplayLink to MacBooks

InFocus says its DisplayLink system for connecting notebooks to projectors now has support for the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air notebooks, not just Windows, as before, states Electronista.

The USB device relies on ultra wide band wireless technology from Wisair and can pass through HD video content as well as audio. Mac users will also now have the ability to control the projectors connected using the InFocus DisplayLink Wireless unit.

In order to attain the same level of connectivity as before, MacBook users needed a mini-DisplayPort or mini-DVI to VGA adapter, a VGA cable for the projector and an audio cable.

AV installations 'not always compliant'

Some installations of AV equipment, in particular interactive whiteboards and projectors, have been carried out without adhering to the appropriate processes, says 4rfv.co.uk.

This is according to AVM and Matrix Display Systems, whose work is now fully compliant with the new specification which requires the correct and safe implementation of audio-visual installations.

No formal standards existed to control the quality of installations of AV equipment, so the British Standards Institute collaborated with AV experts and Becta, the government's agency for ICT in , to develop the new Publicly Accessible Specification.
