Informix has announced the availability of its new business intelligence solutions - the Informix Red Brick Decision Server 6.0, Extended Parallel Server 8.3 and the Decision Solution Suite.
The products represent the company`s focus on object-related technology in the database market.
The Red Brick Decision Server 6.0 is a solution where data can be best represented by star-schema. This data warehouse server includes Web-enablement, incorporating the capability to store clickstream data for analysis. The Extended Parallel Server 8.3 is targeted at Global 2000 companies for business problems where data cannot be represented through star-schema. According to Informix, it poses no limits in terms of size, users, query complexity, schema design or management approach.
The company has also introduced the Informix Decision Solution Suite - a portfolio of complete predefined and pre-tested solution offerings. It is aimed at users who want to implement more traditional "lean and mean" databases.
According to Paul Nerger, the company`s executive director of marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa, there are multiple paradigm shifts taking place within e-commerce, data warehousing and knowledge management with object database technology forming an integral part. He says Informix is currently rolling out products others are still promising.
