South Africa's first online information and privacy assurance provider, InfoSeal, announced today it has signed up Lendico SA, a registered national credit provider, as a certified InfoSeal Website Compliance Program (IWCP) participant.
Lendico SA takes the privacy and security of personal information seriously. The company is a transparent online marketplace that directly connects borrowers and investors. Part of Lendico SA's interaction process requires the collection, storage and processing of its customer's personal information.
The InfoSeal solution addresses Lendico SA's customers' online concerns within one product offering, tailored specifically for the South African environment and to achieve the following objectives:
* To provide the Lendico SA Web site users with assurance that they are interacting with a Web site that complies with the IWCP.
* Providing assurance that personal information being processed via the certified Lendico SA Web site is conducted in a way that does not infringe on a user's privacy and is in accordance with Lendico SA's stated privacy notice, as displayed on its Web site.
InfoSeal's CEO, Francis Cronje, comments: "We have completed a successful assessment of Lendico SA, which has been awarded InfoSeal's orange seal, displaying their commitment to comply with the IWCP."
Deven Pillay, COO of InfoSeal, further notes that the orange seal awarded to Lendico SA is applicable to Web sites that facilitate transactions of a non-commercial nature, as this includes instances where personal information is collected, processed and disseminated.
Pillay further adds that "award of the certification seal demonstrates commitment by Lendico SA to manage personal information processed through its Web site according to a minimum set of privacy and information compliance guidelines". Although the seal becomes a visible expression of Lendico SA's commitment, it also serves to provide a level of online assurance between Lendico SA and its Web site users, says Pillay.
Christopher Ball, Business Developer at Lendico SA, believes it is important to underscore their commitment to users' privacy, thereby creating trust through transparency. "This we believe can be recognised through the display of the InfoSeal Certification on our Web site affirming our good name and reputation by creating increased online usage and interaction between Lendico SA and its users."
The aim of the InfoSeal accreditation is to become the "de facto" standard for online information and privacy compliance in South Africa.
