InfoSight reiterates SAS partnership

By SAS Institute
Johannesburg, 27 Nov 2001

InfoSight has recommitted itself to SAS Institute South Africa by renewing its quality partnership with the company. Formed in 1999 with a view to offering specialised services in data warehousing and exploitation, InfoSight employs the full-time services of 19 independent consultants.

Niall Walker, partner manager at SAS Institute SA, explains that InfoSight has enjoyed a successful relationship with SAS both locally and internationally. "We have found that InfoSight not only has excellent problem solving skills in complex situations, but also has extensive experience in the financial services and services industries.

"It is a prerequisite that SAS Quality Partners be able design solutions for customers, as well as implement and maintain the solution," says Walker. "InfoSight boasts comprehensive data warehouse design, implementation and exploitation skills, particularly within the sphere of business intelligence, an area which is crucial to SAS."

InfoSight's initial target market is companies that have purchased SAS software. Thus, according to InfoSight MD, Dr Kendal Jordi, the organisation's strategic goal is to offer end-to-end data warehousing services through the use of partnerships or alliances with companies and individuals with proven competence and complementary objectives.

"It makes good business sense to have a strong, formal business relationship with the supplier of the software," explains Jordi. "As a SAS Quality Partner, InfoSight has early access to the latest releases of the software and committed and proactive support from SAS Institute personnel."

InfoSight became a Quality Partner last year, and offers a number of consulting services, including: the analysis of business and end-user requirements in data warehousing, with special emphasis on customer and credit relationship management (CRM) applications; the design, implementation and exploitation of data warehouses, including reporting (EIS, MIS, DSS), Internet (Web) and support for analytical applications; effective use of appropriate technological solutions; end-to-end solutions and turnkey applications using SAS software: application maintenance and support; and on-site training of programmers in the SAS System.

"We also facilitate the provision of such consulting services through our own personnel with appropriate skills and specialised knowledge, as well as strategic business alliances with partners offering complementary services," adds Jordi.

InfoSight is currently involved in joint ventures and initiatives with a number of organisations. Data Mining South Africa (DMSA), from the Department of Statistics at the University of the Witwatersrand, German-based SAS Quality Partner Infoware, CredITedge, an InfoSight joint venture with the Mayibuye Group and Pulse Information Management are numbered amongst these alliances.

"The fact that SAS partnership contracts are renewable on an annual basis forms the backbone of the relationship between companies as it results in a joint business plan," says Walker. "This alignment is key to a strong partnership."

Says Brian Wilton, national professional services manager at SAS Institute SA: "SAS is very pleased to be building this solid relationship with InfoSight. SAS takes its partnerships very seriously as these relationships form a significant part of our company strategy."
