InfoWave to distribute Bynx Software

Johannesburg, 09 Jan 2001

InfoWave, an innovative Oracle business and IT solutions specialist, has further enhanced its agreement with Bynx South Africa to include the marketing, selling and implementation of Bynx packaged solutions, including Bynx financial, sales and distribution and fleet management products. The companies first established a partnering agreement a year ago and have now extended this to a formal Distributor Agreement.

Both companies have extensive expertise in Oracle-based development and a long-standing relationship, which made the extension to the agreement a logical step. Bynx and InfoWave have partnered on various projects, including a leading minerals site in Kwa-Zulu Natal. "We have similar design disciplines and a working culture which has made the existing agreement very successful. The addition of the marketing and implementation rights means that our customers will enjoy wall-to-wall solutions and the backing of both companies in the region, giving us access to a strong skills base with extensive expertise in Oracle," states Ralph Collis, managing director of InfoWave.

Commenting further on the agreement, Mark Binks, managing director of Bynx Africa, said that the endorsement of its product by InfoWave and the synergies between the two companies made this agreement particularly good news for customers in Natal and other coastal regions. Bynx has established itself as a leading Oracle developer and supplier of integrated enterprise software solutions. Bynx`s software has been particularly well received in the car hire and industry, with several major players in SA and Europe installing components of its fleet management software and core financials. The recent acquisition of Bynx by The Leasing Group (TLG) in the UK has positioned the company well for product development and growth strategies in Italy, Germany, Holland, the USA and Australia.

InfoWave is a JSE-listed company based in Durban. The company`s client base covers a wide range of industry sectors, including sugar, , wool, leather, transport and agriculture. Specialising in the custom-development of IT and business solutions, InfoWave employs some 60 people in Kwa-Zulu Natal. According to Collis, the company has also undertaken custom IT projects outside of South Africa with great success. "We see the incorporation of Bynx software as an important advantage in our further growth outside of South Africa. Sites already up and running in Tanzania, Malawi and Swaziland are successfully supported via satellite. The ease of integration of the Bynx software with our own custom-solutions is a key competitive advantage," added Collis.
