The Ingres Icebreaker Business Intelligence (BI) Appliance, powered by Jaspersoft, has been updated.

Deb Woods, Ingres vice-president of product management, says: “We no longer live in a world where companies can afford to guess about the performance of their business. All companies benefit from some form of business intelligence today and most proprietary solutions are just too expensive.”

According to the open source management company, Icebreaker is the first BI appliance on the market to be integrated with Salesforce CRM. It also takes advantage of the latest BI features found in the Jaspersoft Business Intelligence Suite and the recently released Ingres Database.

Ingres said in a statement that the integration with Salesforce CRM lets any customer using the Ingres Icebreaker BI Appliance interface with in their Salesforce CRM deployment. This allows users to run queries and reports locally with dashboards, ad hoc queries, and trend-analysis reporting.

According to Jose Morales, Jaspersoft vice-president of business development, customers are demanding business visibility for improved decision-making.

The Ingres Icebreaker BI Appliance offers customers a comprehensive solution that addresses costs of ownership, integration, and maintenance schedules, says the company. It also helps businesses to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and Europe's laws.

Earlier this month, Ingres joined the Open Source Channel Alliance, a group founded by Red Hat and Synnex to drive open source solutions and establish a strong channel ecosystem.
