KVS has announced that Inmarsat, the communications network, has achieved significant cost and time savings within months of implementing Enterprise Vault, the e-mail management software.
KVS is a content archiving solution for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server environments.
Enterprise Vault is recognised as the market`s most comprehensive corporate content archiving system that addresses the problems arising from the ongoing proliferation of unstructured data including e-mail.
Enterprise Vault provides automatic, policy-driven mailbox and public folder archiving, PST import and mandatory journaled mail retention.
It turns e-mail storage into a reliable and dependable source of information, delivering properly documented audit trails, enabling companies to adhere to regulatory and corporate compliance guidelines, with records of both current and historical information.
It also provides an efficient means for quickly identifying, searching, finding and retrieving information.
"Previously, we relied on a tape library which was not only slow and inefficient, but did not provide simple or safe traceability or disaster recovery capabilities," said Ramesh Varsani, LAN systems manager at Inmarsat.
"We were looking to move to an information lifecycle management (ILM) solution that would enable us to lessen the archiving task and take control of the management of the data in any situation.
"Enterprise Vault takes us further than that," he continued. "Enterprise Vault enabled us to address the business issues associated with the retention of data in line with regulatory guidelines pertaining to corporate compliance that satisfied both our legal and IT teams` overall objectives.
"With Enterprise Vault we don`t have to worry about e-mail and content archiving issues as the solution takes care of the headache. If we need to search and retrieve e-mail or content data we can efficiently bring up the information at the touch of a button which is invaluable to a company the size of Inmarsat, especially when taking into consideration the heightened importance of having to be able to audit and produce data for regulatory corporate compliance.
"Within six months, not only has ROI been achieved, but the consequential outage and administration times have been drastically cut down - to around a fifth - and a steady flow of positive feedback has been given to the IT team on the project," comments Andrew Barnes, Global marketing Director of KVS. "Remote access and the easy transfer of .pst files, along with the quick search facility, have proved to be the most popular features from Inmarsat`s user perspective," concluded Barnes.
KVS is the global market leading developer of e-mail and content archiving software solutions that provide total lifecycle management for information in messaging and collaborative systems. KVS`s flagship software, Enterprise Vault, manages all unstructured content including e-mail, file systems, SharePoint Portal Server and instant messages.
