Innovation advances Internet conferencing

A fledgling US and India-based company, Vivu, created by IT graduates and Indian telecom and IT entrepreneurs, has been marketing an Internet conferencing innovation that could end seminars and herald Webinars, reports Indian Express.

Existing satellite or pure audio conferencing systems require participants to be in pre-determined locations or afford little flexibility for private one-to-ones in the middle of large gatherings. The Vivu innovation, however, makes the Internet a live, scalable, virtual meeting hall, classroom or banquet hall.

The Vivu solution employs breakthrough software technology that makes live audio-visual interaction between teachers and large groups of students, a call centre and its customers, or even a talk show and its guests as simple as logging on to the Internet with a Web cam and a mike.

Telepresence solution enhances

Polycom, the telepresence, video, and voice communications solutions company, has revealed a new high-definition (HD) telepresence solution for healthcare applications that enables professionals to provide patients access to care regardless of time or distance constraints, according to PR-inside.

The series delivers the full range of HD resolutions, including 1080p and 720p at 30 frames per second (fps) and broadcast quality 720p at 60 fps, in a mobile, -capable, integrated system featuring seamless interoperability with medical peripheral devices.

"Time to delivery of care is critically important, particularly in stroke and other emergency conditions where getting patients connected quickly to the right specialist can provide better outcomes and even save lives,” says Dr. Andrew Watson, medical director of the Centre for Connected Medicine.

Hosted desktop videoconferencing deal signed

Communications III, a full service telecommunications and video conferencing company based in the US Midwest, will offer Avistar C3 desktop videoconferencing as a hosted service to its customers, reports TMCNet.

Avistar is a company specialising in unified visual communications solutions and the C3 is said to offer a single-click desktop or room-based videoconferencing and collaboration experience.

“Communications III chose Avistar desktop videoconferencing to add to our managed services because of its profound audio and video quality, ease of use and price point,” says Scott Halliday, president of Communications III.
