Wigan Council has this week announced its decision to deploy PerformancePlus the management software tool distributed and supported in South Africa by specialist Performance Management specialist Professional Services Firm, Analytix. The Enterprise Performance Management and Balanced Scorecard system is produced by UK based company INPHASE Software.
The state-of-the-art tool, which successfully competes against offerings from US giants Oracle, SAP and Lotus Show Business, will help Wigan meet the Government`s stringent Best Value requirements and to integrate the programmes they are using at the moment to improve performance and management. It will also bring together data gathered through other IT systems about performance and activity.

PerformancePlus will help Wigan align their whole organisation with their corporate vision and key goals. Middle managers with responsibility for equal opportunities, housing, waste disposal, refuse collection, street cleaning, social services and provision for homeless people will be able to organise what they do to best meet the needs of the community. They will have an organisational model which can be used over the intranet, and which will display not only their strategic objectives, but how they work and can be measured.
Teams will be able to see at a glance how they are succeeding in objectives and key performance indicators, and thus identify where improvements can be made. Cause and effect can be analysed between objectives across the entire Council, and plans and programmes can be modified quickly and easily in response to market demands or changes in the Council`s overall strategy.
PerformancePlus will help Wigan`s contribution to modernising local government. This includes a corporate approach to management, and the full involvement of local Councillors, employees and senior managers, which is practically integrated with key management processes.
